Josie Fraser

Josie is a social and educational technologist. She works for Leicester City Council, leading the technology strand of the city’s £340 million Building Schools for the Future (BSF) Programme, delivering new and refurbished schools for 23 secondary mainstream and special education communities.

She leads on the award winning DigiLit Leicester digital literacy school staff development project, a partnership between Leicester City Council, De Montfort University, and the 23 BSF schools.

She previously worked for Childnet International, producing the UK Government’s guidance on cyberbullying for learners and staff. Josie also worked for JISC supporting university and further education projects in online community development, Green ICT and learning spaces. Cable Green 

Cable is the Director of Global Learning , Creative Commons. He works with the global open education community to leverage open licensing, open educational resources, and open policies to significantly improve access to quality education and research resources so everyone in the world can attain the education they desire.

Cable has 15 years of academic technology, online learning and open education experience in higher education and recently led a project to build and share a general education curriculum under the CC BY license.

Cable holds a PhD in educational psychology from Ohio State University and tweets @cgreen

Sheila MacNeill

Sheila MacNeill is a Senior Lecturer in Blended Learning at Glasgow Caledonian University where she works as part of a team who work collaboratively offer strategic direction, pedagogic guidance and practical support to staff in embedding blended and online learning across the curriculum.

Sheila also works with colleagues across the university to support the development of approaches open education practice.

Open-ness is at the heart of Sheila’s professional practice and she regularly blogs about her adventures and musing in and around the use of technology in education @ howsheilaseesit.wordpress.com/.

Before working at GCU, Sheila was one of the Assistant Director’s at Jisc Cetis, a national innovation support centre for the UK HE Sector. She was the ALT Learning Technologist of the Year 2013.


Martin Weller
Martin Weller

Martin Weller

Martin Weller is Professor of Educational Technology at the Open University in the UK.

He chaired the OU’s first major elearning course in 1999 with over 12,000 students, and has led several major elearning initiatives. He started blogging in 2005 and became interested in the impact of new technology on academic practice.

He is currently the Director of the OER Research Hub project and holds the ICDE Chair in OER.
